  • Where are Bulworthy Forest Lodges?

    We are located In the wonderful area of North Devon ,midway between Bideford , Barnstaple and Torrington, a few miles inland from the fabulous North Devon coastline with great beaches and activities, and we offer great forest lodges in an established woodland, surrounded by the rolling green countryside of the area.


    We are under two hours from Bristol and just over 3 hours from the Midlands and London.

  • How do we get there?

    Cars are required to get here and each lodge has adequate parking for 1 or 2 vehicles. It is possible to arrive by train at Barnstaple Station and a taxi from there to the lodges is between £20 and £30.

  • How do I book?

    You can book via the link on this website via our marketing partners Hoseasons. They will handle all the administration and payment and all the information you need before you arrive.

  • How long can we stay for?

    We offer short breaks of 3 nights Monday to Friday, Midweek breaks Monday to Friday or 7/14 night stays Friday to Friday, or Monday to Monday. During the school summer holidays, we also offer 7 night stays starting on a Saturday.

  • Check in and check out times.

    You are welcome to check into your accommodation from 4pm. We ask that all guests check out by 9.30am.


    Early check in and Late Checkout is available for £30 but must be booked by emailing us prior to your visit


  • How much do you charge for dogs?

    £35 per week per dog

    £25 per short break per dog

    Maximum 2 dogs

  • Is there a shop in the forest?

    We don’t have a convenience store on site but there is a Tesco, on Manteo Way in Bideford (approximately 9 minutes away by car).


    There is also Hedden’s Farm shop on the road to Bideford at Woodtown. Open 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. it offers milk and bread plus homegrown meat and veg. Petrol station at Roundswell, Barnstaple and Bideford.


    For larger superstores we recommend Barnstaple or Bideford.


    We do encourage supporting small local shops where you can as it is so critical to the local economy. Great butchers and bakers can be found in the market towns of Bideford and Barnstaple.

  • Where are the local farm shops?

    A mile down the road is Hedden’s.

  • Are there washing/ laundrette facilities?

    Most lodges have a washing machine and there is a laundry shed on site that offers an additional machine and a coin operated dryer.

  • How is my accommodation prepared?

    All rooms are cleaned to a high standard with appropriate cleaning products.

  • Do you supply bed linen and towels?

    Beds are made up according to the number of guests booked and spare left in the wardrobe should additional beds be required. Each guest has a bath towel and there is a starter pack of household necessities inc. toilet roll.

  • Is Wi-Fi available?

    Free Wi-fi is available and most lodges get a good service  BUT is slowest in Kingfisher, Otters Holt and Hunters Lodge due to the nature of the site. Speeds do vary depending on lodge location and demand, but a basic service should be available.

  • Will my mobile phone have signal?

    Most mobile phone providers provide a service here but it can sometimes be necessary to move around the site a little.

  • Do you allow BBQ's?

    Lodges have a brick BBQ close to the lodge.


    No disposables BBQ allowed. Portable BBQ’s are allowed but must be placed on either concrete surfaces/hardcore area with safety in mind.


    If the weather has been very dry for a long period, we do have to ask for safety reasons that BBQ’s ARE NOT LIT (This rarely happens but it is best to let you know).


  • Where Do I Park?

    Each Lodge has space directly outside the lodge for one car. The larger lodges offer 2 spaces. Additional cars can be parked elsewhere on site if required.
